John Wilson is a lifelong resident of Elmore County, Alabama, with more than four decades of service to the fire service community. A graduate of Holtville High School, John has dedicated much of his life to serving his community and supporting firefighters throughout Alabama and across the country.
John joined the Holtville/Slapout Volunteer Fire Department in 1983 and has served the department in numerous capacities, including as Fire Chief. His commitment to the fire service extended throughout Elmore County, where he served for 20 years as President of the Elmore County Firefighters Association. Through these roles, John developed extensive experience in fire department operations, equipment, planning, and the needs of both volunteer and career firefighters.
Following high school, John worked for several companies in the area, gaining experience that ultimately led to a career focused on fire protection and emergency services. Among his responsibilities was the development of master fire plans for fire departments in several states, giving him valuable insight into fire protection planning, apparatus and equipment needs, and department operations.
John went on to build a distinguished 26-year career with North America Fire Equipment Company (NAFECO), headquartered in Decatur, Alabama. As a salesperson, he worked closely with fire departments and public safety agencies, developing long-standing professional relationships throughout the region. John distinguished himself as NAFECO’s top salesperson for 25 years, reflecting both his knowledge of the fire service and the trust he earned from the departments and communities he served.
After retiring from NAFCO in May 2026, John brought his decades of experience to Blue Skies Business Group, where he serves as a Senior Consultant specializing in public safety and the fire service. In this role, he draws upon more than 40 years of practical fire service experience and decades of private-sector expertise to assist organizations, local governments, and public safety agencies.
